Defend the poet

In the poem “Dinosauria we” Charles Bukowski speaks of the unfortunate situation that many people have been born into. Things we don’t influence at all, that influences our lives so deeply.  In his poem he speaks of a young man, “as the supermarket bag boy holds a college degree.” Well it is not really him speaking of the young man; more so him speaking of the economy. How bad does the economy have to be when someone in possession of a college degree is working in a supermarket as a bag boy?... it has to be one of the most economically unstable places in the world for someone to be in that situation. How can we be one of the most advanced countries when a person can spend 30 years of their life paying off 4 years of schooling?... it doesn’t make sense.
“Into hospitals which are so expensive that it's cheaper to die.” When should dying ever be an option?... if things are so bad that a person would choose dying over fighting for their life, something really needs to be done. Who are we to charge a person to help them?... something we should want to do, basically putting a price on someone’s life. Jonas Salk could have easily charged everyone for the vaccine in which he created for polio and became a very rich man but he chose not to because he felt as if that was something he should have done for the ones that needed it most.
